CISPLAGEN is Cisplatin, a heavy metal complex containing a central atom of platinum surrounded by 2 chloride atoms and 2 ammonia molecules in the cis position. The mechanism of action of Cisplagen has not been conclusively-determined, but the drug has biochemical properties similar to those of the biochemical alkylating agents. Cisplagen appears to be cycle phase non-specific, it binds to D.N.A. and inhibit D.N.A synthesis. Protein and R.N.A. synthesis are also inhibited. It produces intra-strand cross links in D.N.A. possibly by binding at areas of specific base sequences.
Indicated as a single agent or in established combination therapy with other approved chemotherapeutic agent in: metastatic testicular & ovarian tumors and advanced bladed cancer. Supplied in 10mg/10mL and 50mg/50mL Solution for Injection in tubular flint vials of 1’s; Box of 1’s.
