AMIODARONE

amiodarone-hydrochloride-myodial

MYODIAL 200mg Tablet; box of 30’s

Generic Name:              Amiodarone
Registration Status:   Registered
Drug Type:                       CARDIOVASCULAR / ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Principal:                         THE ACME LABORATORIES LTD.

Description:
MYODIAL is Amiodarone, used to correct abnormal rhythms of the heart (an antiarrhythmic medication). Amiodarone is considered a “broad spectrum” antiarrhythmic medication. Among its most important electrical effects are: a delay in the rate at which the heart’s electrical system ‘recharges’ after the heart contracts(repolarization);a prolongation in the electrical phase during which the heart’s muscle cells are electrically stimulated(action’potential); a slowing of the speed of electrical conduction (how fast each individual impulse is conducted through the heart’s electrical system);a reduction in the rapidity of firing of the normal generator of electrical impulses in the heart (the heart’s pacemaker);a slowing of conduction through various specialized electrical pathways(called accessory pathways)which can be responsible for arrythmias. In addition to being an antiarrhythmic medication, amiodarone also causes blood vessels to dilate(enlarge). This effect can result in a drop in blood pressure. Because of this effect it also may be of benefit in patients with congestive heart failure.

Available in blister pack of 10’s, box of 30’s.

AMLODIPINE 5mg

amlodipine-besilate-provasc-5mg

PROVASC 5 mg Tablet; box of 30’s

Generic Name:              Amlodipine besilate
Registration Status:   Registered
Drug Type:                       CARDIOVASCULAR / ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Principal:                         THE ACME LABORATORIES LTD.

Description:
PROVASC is Amlodipine besilate, a long-acting calcium channel blocker. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist (calcium ion antagonist or slow-channel blocker) that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. It inhibits calcium ion influx across cell membranes selectively, with a greater effect on vascular smooth muscle cells than on cardiac muscle cells. Serum calcium concentration is not affected by amlodipine. Amlodipine is a peripheral arterial vasodilator that acts directly on vascular smooth muscle to cause a reduction in peripheral vascular resistance and reduction in blood pressure. Used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and for prophylaxis of angina. As calcium channel blockers, it blocks calcium thus causing the blood vessels to relax and widen so blood flow can more easily. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems.

Available in 5mg and 10mg Tablets in PVC/Alu blister strips of 10’s Box of 30’s.

AMLODIPINE BESILATE / LOSARTAN POTASSIUM

amlodipine-besilate-veztenor

VEZTENOR 5 mg / 50mg Film-Tablet; box of 30’s

Generic Name:              Amlodipine besilate Losartan potassium
Registration Status:   Registered
Drug Type:                       CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKER / ANGIOTENSIN II-RECEPTOR  BLOCKER (ARB)
Principal:                         THE ACME LABORATORIES LTD.

Description:
Amlodipine, as VEZTENOR, inhibits the movement of Ca ions across the cell membrane into vascular smooth muscles and myocytes. Action is greater in the arterial vessels causing peripheral vasodilation and reduction in afterload. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor (type AT,) antagonists antihypertensive which acts by blocking the actions of angiotensin II of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. The drug and its active metabolite selectively block the vasocontructor and aldosterone secreting effects of angiotensin II  by selectively antagonizing the binding of angiotensin II at AT1 receptors. Light Tan colored round bi-convex film coated tablets engraved ACME on one face and break line on the other face.

Each Film-coated tablet contains Amlodipine besilate equivalent to Amlodipine 5 mg and Losartan potassium 50 mg.

Principal:                         THE ACME LABORATORIES LTD.

Description:
TENORVAS is Atenolol, a ß 1 selective adrenergic receptor antagonist. It competitively blocks ß 1 (cardiac) receptors thus acting as an antihypertensive medication. It has no effect on ß 2-receptors. Tenorvas significantly reduces both maximal and submaximal exercise heart rates. Indicated in hypertension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction and cardiac arrhythmias.

Available in blister pack of 10’s; Box of 100’s.

CARVEDILOL 12.5mg

carvedilol-cardipres-12-5mg

CARDIPRES 12.5 mg Film-Coated Tablet; box of 30’s

Generic Name:              Carvedilol
Registration Status:   Registered
Drug Type:                       CARDIOVASCULAR / ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Principal:                         THE ACME LABORATORIES LTD.

Description:
CARDIPRES is Carvedilol, a nonselective ß-adrenergic blocking agent with a1-blocking activity. It is used for treating high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. Carvedilol blocks receptors of the adrenergic nervous system, the system of nerves in which epinephrine (adrenalin) is active. Nerves from the adrenergic system enter the heart and release an adrenergic chemical (norepinephrine) that attaches to receptors on the heart’s muscle and stimulates the muscle to beat more rapidly and forcefully. By blocking the receptors, carvedilol reduce the heart’s rate and force of contraction and thereby reduces the work of the heart. Carvedilol also blocks adrenergic receptors on arteries and causes the arteries to relax and the blood pressure to fall. The drop in blood pressure further reduces the work of the heart since it is easier to pump blood against a lower pressure. Used in the management of hypertension & angina pectoris, & as an adjunct to standard therapy in symptomatic heart failure. It has also been used to reduce mortality in patients with left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction.

Available in blister pack of 10’s; Box of 30’s.

LOSARTAN POTASSIUM 100MG

losartan-potassium-kenzar

KENZAR 100mg Film Coated Tablet; box of 30’s

Generic Name:              Losartan K
Registration Status:   Registered
Drug Type:                       CARDIOVASCULAR / ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Principal:                         THE ACME LABORATORIES LTD.

Description:
KENZAR is Losartan potassium, a non-peptide molecule, is a potent vasoconstrictor, the primary vasoactive hormone of the renin-angiotensin system and an important component in the pathophysiology of hypertension. It also stimulates aldosterone secretion by the adrenal cortex. Losartan and its principal active metabolite block the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor found in many tissues, (e.g., vascular smooth muscle, adrenal gland). There is also an AT2 receptor found in many tissues but it is not known to be associated with cardiovascular homeostasis. Both losartan and its principal active metabolite do not exhibit any partial agonist activity at the AT1 receptor and have much greater affinity (about 1000-fold) for the AT1 receptor than for the AT2 receptor. Used in the management of hyprtension, particularly in the patients who develop cough with ACE inhibitors and to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy and in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy. It has also been used in the management of heart failure.
